Life got in the way of my last attempt to write SMOKE. I am such a linear writer I seem to keep starting over, reworking the first chapter so much I can recite it! It's starting to remind me of those anecdotes about romance writers who polish the first chapter for contests and never write the book! 
So, starting tomorrow...no more first chapter. I need to get these two out of the fire and into the...shower? Here's hoping!
What about you? Do you write linearly or in scenes? Do you polish chapter one until it sparkles without giving it anything else?
