Samhain Blog

I'm at the Samhain blog talking about the plot devices real life throws our way...and not making much sense!

Perspective

I'm mired in finding-a-house drama, but it's not that big of a deal in the context of what some people have to go through. Last week my best friend felt healthy and strong, with an annoying bump on her breast. Tomorrow she's having a radical mastectomy.

Needless to say, house-hunting is on hold. So is writing. So is everything but joy and healing.

Graduating

My baby boy graduated kindergarten today. The girl was in a moo-ood, so I didn't get to relish it like I would have liked to, but it was warm and cuddly all the same. The kids sang some hilarious songs and Hayden ate 3 cookies.

I didn't get to picking out thank-you gifts for their teachers. Selling the house and buying another are taking all the energy the kiddos don't need. Nothing is left for social niceties or actually writing.

Life's a little full right now. Which is not necesarily a bad thing.

Finding IT

I need to find some time for myself. I have a book plotted out, I made it to a workshop this weekend that proved the book will work (yay me), so all I have to do is write it. I don't exactly see a place in my day to do that.
Hopefully, time will loosen this week. The appraisal on this house should happen, so should the inspection on what we hope will be the new place...and the boys finish up with school.
Maybe I'm completely deluded, but I am looking forward to summer. I'm an early riser, so I could get some work done ine the morning if I wasn't coralling kids into the van and waking the baby way before the princess would like to rise.
I like lazy summer days sprinkled with fun moments with the kiddos. It fills up my love cup, which makes writing happy stories easier.
