It's Banned Books Week

I just read Pain & The Great One with the kids yesterday. No, it's not one of Judy Blume's banned books, but it is age appropriate for them. (Judy Blume is the author of young adult classics such as Blubber, Forever, Tiger Eyes, Then Again, Maybe I Won't, and Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret - all five of which appear on the Top 100 Most Frequently Challenged Books of 2000-2007.)

I'm in Lurve...

...with The Romance Studio. Par For The Course got a lovely and well-written review. The poor book came out during the RWA conference weekend, so most everyone had more on their minds than my book. It's nice to see it get some attention :)

This is my first experience with a Jenna Bayley-Burke novel and let me
tell you quickly that it is one of the best books I’ve read in a long time. I
love her writing style and her ability to tell a story from a fresh perspective
and with an unpredictable cast of characters that prove to her readers that she
is a superb author. I have seldom read a contemporary romance which held me
breathless as quickly or as speedily seized my attention.

I loved this book. Her characters were magnificent. Her supporting cast
was so important even though, typically, they were not the focal point. I found
myself totally immersed in the characters and the story as a whole. There were
definitely surprises embedded in this storyline. I can guarantee that you will
love the story and recommend it to all your friends. I’m honored to have
reviewed this book.

I just found this one from Joyfully Reviewed:
Par For The Course is a fun summer read and is absolutely
enjoyable.

In A Word...

Over on Romance Divas, Kristin dared us all to describe our hero in one word. Since I was in need of a procrastination device that could double as actual work (I've rewritten chapter 2 scene 2 4 ways)...I decided I was game :)

One Last Fling : Beckett : Sexy
First Impressions : Jakob : Guarded
Sensational Sex : David : Loyal

Her Cinderella Complex : Curtis : Complicated
Par For The Course : Ben : Focused
For Kicks : Logan : Resourceful
Cooking Up A Storm : Cameron : Driven
Just One Spark : Mason : Determined

What do you think makes a good hero?

Powell's Signing

The signing last night was tons of fun. It turned out a few copies of For Kicks had sold before I even arrived to pimp them...

We sat at tables - which had me thinking again that we should get a RCRW banner for signings and recruiting events. Need to bring that up at a board meeting...

I got to catch up with the local gals. Since having the baby I'm behind on all the goss. We had quite a few ladies who aren't part of RCRW, and some imports from the Seattle area who are local faves. It's always nice to hang around other writers. It makes me want to actually write!
